5 Tips To Market Yourself On Social Media

As promised, here are 5 steps for promoting yourself on social media:

Your profile pic and cover photo describes who you are
Keep your profile pic to just your face. Look for an asymmetrical picture, facing the light for more drama. Also, try to stick to one profile pic for all the social media you are on. This will help people recognize you on social media and reduce the questions on their mind while looking for you and your great work!

The cover photo is for telling a story about yourself. The cover photo is where you excite your friends about your true passion for great design. It could be a quote or an appropriate card designed by you for the season.

    – Content timing
Ensure the work you post on your page is contextual. Don’t post a Good morning card at night or a summer card during Christmas. Post a card appropriate to what you are feeling at the moment and you will never go wrong.

P.S> Keep in mind not to overdo it

    Add trending hashtags
Make sure you add a title to your post along with trending hashtags, especially on Twitter & Instagram. Don’t just post the link to your card but also communicate the message around with it. View our Twitter page to get a feel.

    Everything can’t be marketed everywhere
Ensure the type of card you are promoting is appropriate for the medium you are promoting it on. Videos, Flash & animated .gif works great on Facebook, Google Plus & Instagram but not necessarily on Twitter or LinkedIn. Use the visual medium Pinterest & Google Plus for promoting postcards and animated .gifs. Twitter will help direct traffic to your studio page and increase chances of increasing your followers. LinkedIn helps you talk about your experience and expertise used while designing the cards and creates more backlinks for the cards.

    – Share good stuff
Share your cards on communities on Google Plus, Facebook Groups , Twitter Lists and Pinterest Group boards to gain popularity. The good stuff you share has a way of rewarding itself. You would get to interact with like minded people, if not you would have just made someone’s day with your ecard.

    How to Encash your Creativity

    1) Self-Marketing

There were some key takeaway from the webinar. One was to promote yourself as a ‘brand’ so people recognize you and your creativity which in turn will help increase your earnings. Following are some ways to do so:-

    • Use Social Media/ Artist Communities to post and share your work frequently and across all platforms. So not just Facebook but also use Twitter and Pinterest to promote your work and attract a larger audience. You can read more on ‘Marketing your ecards on Social Media‘.
    • Popularize yourself as a creative person- Blogs. Write in your own or contribute to another blog where you can promote your work. Read our previous post on ‘Marketing on Blogs and Artist Communities‘.
    • Spend substantial time doing this. At least 10% of your time should be spent in promoting your work.

    2) Diversify your portfolio

Upload cards in different formats and in different categories to prove that you are dynamic and versatile visualizer.

    • Types of cards: Postcards, Animated cards, Flash cards and Video cards.
    • Upload in General Categories + Events – to showcase to the audience that you can produce cards to suit all their needs.
    • Upload in Global Events – to reach out to a global audience. This helps increase your followers. See our events calendar to plan in advance.
    • Upload in a larger number of subcategories.

    3) Adapt to the American Market

    • Modern Concepts – Try to incorporate latest fads.
    • Read about what’s trending in popular American online newspapers and websites.
    • How people in USA celebrate an event – essential to understand this and translate it in your cards.
    • Experiment with modern themes and current fads.
    • Use the language that Americans use – American English and common usage of words or phrases that the target audience can relate to.
    • Bubble Culture – Comic style, funny characters, storyline based on visuals.

These are some really useful and easy tips to maximize your reach as an ecard designer and be able to cater to the target audience. There’ll be more webinar extracts available next week. Till then try out the above tips and encash your creativity!

5 Tips on Popularizing Your Card Designs

    Tip #1

    Social Media Fans & Followers
Build an active social media network of fans and followers
Social media can be powerful tool to promote your creative’s. As you are probably aware, Facebook has over 1 billion users globally. You can include your Studio Profile URL in your FB profile, and also regularly market your creations on your Wall for your friends and their networks to see and share. Read more on optimal Facebook strategies at http://bit.ly/123S_FB1.

    Tip #2

    Establish Connections
Establish connections with fellow artists to cross-promote your cards
You can find links to social media profiles of other artists on their Studio Profile page. Offer to promote their work on your networks, and request them to return the favor to you. This can work wonderfully for everyone.

    Tip #3

    Listing Category
    Choose your listing category carefully
Categories are listed in order of their priority to senders. Hence, categories listed higher up have greater visibility and send ability. However, because of this, competition in these categories is also high. Hence, if you have a powerful concept for a top category which is fresh, by all means select the top category and list it there. Else, it might be worthwhile spending time creating a specific category card which stands out. In all instances quality and send ability will be rewarded.

    Tip #4

    Choose Your Tags
    Choose your tags carefully
Tags increase your card’s search ability, and help you get those critical views, since there is no word limit on tags, you can put as many tags as you like, but do remember these should be relevant for your card. Check out tags in this link: http://bit.ly/123G_S_Tag. You can see a plethora of tags, but these all are relevant with the card. Include tags for the following – sender/receiver/emotions/expressed/related symbolism shown/mood of card/relevant card categories and sub-categories.

    Tip #5

    Give Your Cards A Push
Give your cards a push at the start
Initially share your Studio cards URL with your family, friends, fans and networks. Request them to view it, comment on it and if they like it they can share it on their networks. Once your card starts getting viewed and sent by some people, it gets the automatic push from the 123Greetings system to mature into a top card.
